Hailing from Toronto and growing up in Brampton's suburbs, Skip Waiters channels his inner-city upbringing into his music. He combines the dynamic flows of Kendrick Lamar, J.I.D, and Anderson Paak, merges the innovative production of Tyler the Creator, and embraces Pharrell's genre-blending style. In 2021, Skip's debut mixtape, "Personal Stereo", earned prominent playlist spots across all major streaming platforms. It received acclaim from heavyweights like: Live Nation, Rolling Stones, Variance Magazine, and Hello Canada. The subsequent year, he unveiled two EPs addressing mental health, ego, and the experience of growing up black in Canada. Now with over 2M catalogue streams, 2023 saw Skip introducing "Streams of Consciousness", his first commercial album. This body of work weaves together his EP themes and underscores the significance of therapy for Black Canadians. In 2024 Skip Waiters releasd his Sophomore album The Human Experience that continues the discussion around self identity,  being a black Canadian and the black experience. 2025 will see Skip Waiters continue to explore sounds within the Alternative Hip-Hop space through collaborations and live shows.

PIKS - LP 3 - 2025/2026/2027

Skip Waiters invites listeners into a world shaped by his creative alter ego, Mr. Piks, a multifaceted character who embodies the artist’s inner voice and personal journey. By introducing Mr. Piks, Skip gains the freedom to delve into deeply personal experiences from a slightly detached, artistic lens, while also exploring universal themes that resonate across time and space. This approach allows Skip to reflect on his life’s pivotal moments, challenges, and triumphs through the eyes of a character who is both narrator and participant, blurring the line between observer and storyteller. At its core, the project uses seasons as a narrative device, weaving together symbolic and sonic representations of love, life lessons, growth & change, and renewal. Each season not only reflects a specific phase in life but also serves as a distinct sonic and visual palette, creating an immersive experience where moods and themes evolve like the cycles of nature.

The Character: Mr. Piks

Mr. Piks is more than an alter ego; he is the embodiment of Skip’s subconscious, representing the dualities within—the confident artist, the introspective thinker, and the vulnerable individual seeking meaning in life.

  • A Creative Wordplay: The name "Piks" is a reversal of "Skip," adding an element of clever wordplay and reinforcing the idea that Mr. Piks is a mirror to Skip’s soul.

  • A Dual Perspective: Mr. Piks acts as both narrator and protagonist, offering a third-party view of Skip’s first-person experiences. This dynamic allows Skip to explore his inner world while simultaneously confronting the external challenges that shape his reality.

  • A Journey Through Seasons: As the story unfolds, Mr. Piks navigates the symbolic seasons of life, each representing a different emotional and thematic arc.

The Season Of Winter: The story begins in the stillness of introspection. This is a time for reflection, solitude, and resilience, setting the stage for personal growth as PIKS journeys through the hardships of love. The music is melodic and R&B-inspired, evoking a sense of longing and quiet reflection.
